Writing Funk

As authors we all go through a period where we get in a writing funk.

Here lately, I’ve been in a huge writing funk. In fact, this has been going on for months now. It’s so bad, that I’ve hardly written anything, with the exception of a few blog posts.

One reason for my lack of writing is due to my other duties. Aside from being an author, I work at home doing a variety of odd jobs. I used to write everyday, but I become so preoccupied with my other work that writing’s taking a backseat. I try to write on the weekends, yet it’s tough because it seems like something always comes up to keep me distracted.

Another reason for my writing funk and this is the one that’s affected me more than anything.

The only drama I like is the ones in my books; I can do without it in real life. I won’t go into too much detail about this latest bout of drama; I’ll just say that it involves someone close to me, them taking advantage of my kindness, and not appreciating me. This made me upset and because of what’s happening, all the energy’s been sucked out of me. I haven’t felt like doing anything, including the one thing I love the most.

But now, I’m ready to remove the negativity from my life.

I’m changing my life and only focusing on the positivity. That means getting back to writing.

For the past few weeks, I’ve slowly worked my way back into the writing groove. Currently, I’m working on several short stories along with editing one of my books. I’m hoping by the end of the year to have some of my projects completed.

Here’s to me getting out of my writing funk. May I never have to experience anything like this ever again.
