The last wedding I went to was in May of 2008.
Shows how much I get out.
Anyway, the wedding I was part of was for my best friends Pam and Julius. Their wedding took place on Mother’s Day weekend in 2008.
The months leading up to the ceremony weren’t stressful at all. Of course, we did have to make the occasional hour trips to Greensboro, NC to pick up dresses and get them altered. But other than that, everything went smoothly.
The wedding was a small affair; it wasn’t one of those big extravagant ceremonies you see most couples have. The ceremony took place in the couple’s church with their friends and family. I was a bridesmaid along with Pam’s sister and Julius’ sister. While Julius had his dad and his high school friends as his groomsmen.
I remember the colors were red. Our dresses, the embroidery on the bride’s dress, and the men’s vests were all red. There was an flower arch at the front of the church where the couple stood under.
Prior the ceremony starting, Holly sang From This Moment On by Shania Twain. Hearing the song, Pam got emotional. Then as the ceremony got underway, tears came from both Pam and Julius.
After the wedding, we gathered for pictures. Our high school friend, Tracy took the pics with her digital camera. Then the reception was held in the church hall with finger foods, cake, and punch.
It was a beautiful ceremony and I was happy to be part of that special moment with my friends. In case you’re wondering, Pam and Julius are still together and they have 3 children.
