Where Did You Find That?

Day 6 of #FreeWritingChallenge is upon us. Today’s post involves opening the scene with “Where did you find that?”

For this story, I decided to honor the #FreeWritingChallenge creator JC wing.

Hope you all enjoy it.

“Where did you find that?”

“Excuse me?” The blonde girl sitting next to me on the bus faced me.

“That book. Where did you find it?” I peered at the cover, which featured a statue of cupid. The title Dead Beat Dates & Deities written in pink letters.

“I ordered it from Amazon. It’s written by JC Wing.”

“Who?” I didn’t really keep up with the new authors. With my busy job, I didn’t have much time for reading.

“J.C. Wing. She’s an amazing author. I met her at a Facebook party.”

“What’s the book about?”

“Well,” the blonde turned in her seat. “Frankie has been unlucky in love. Then one day while out shopping, she falls into a fountain of Aphrodite. Following her accident, she finds she’s gained a special power in matchmaking. As she comes to terms with her new ability, she’s visited by Aphrodite and Cupid, who try to help her. Along the way, Frankie even finds herself falling for The God of Love.”

My eyes became wide as I listened to the plot. This was unlike any book I ever read. At that moment, I knew I had to read it.

“You said you ordered it from Amazon. Does she have in kindle format too?”

“Of course, but I prefer paperbacks. I love the feel of a book in my hands.”

I thank the passenger for her help before pulling out my iPhone. Logging onto Amazon, I search for JC Wing.

Immediately, her books pop up. I see Dead Beat Dates isn’t the only book she’s written. The Gannon series looks interesting, I’ll have to give that a try. But first, Dead Beat Dates awaits.

I click the Buy Now button, then wait a few minutes before switching to the Kindle app. Within the first paragraph, I’m already laughing. I can already tell this is going to be a good book.
